Is your BSA/AML program adequately staffed? Does your BSA Officer perform functions other than BSA related? Ask your BSA officer whether sufficient time is available to perform the job function including BSA/AML monitoring based on the institution’s product mix, locale, product delivery, monitoring software, and BSA related risk to include due diligence and expanded due diligence. Few institutions, regardless of asset size, have the luxury of being in a situation of having a situation which does not minimally require a full time BSA officer. Ask your BSA officer’s opinion on BSA related staffing. The last thing you want is a regulatory finding related to inadequate resources devoted to BSA/AML.
